The following qualifications are expected:

• PhD in Psychology, Statistics, Biostatistics or other quantitative field
• Background in the design and analysis of randomized trials
• Experience or deep interest in research in precision medicine/education, including via adaptive interventions (dynamic treatment regimes)
• A strong desire and commitment to making a real impact on health or education outcomes via research
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment
• Good organizational skills

Our lab includes graduate students from a number of different departments across the University of Michigan, including the Department of Statistics, the Department of Psychology, the School of Information and the School of Public Health. All of our graduate students are expected to lead a manuscript on the development or application of a study design or analysis method, or on the development of a health or education intervention. Some of our graduate students do this research as part of their PhD dissertation. Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA) funding is available on a case-by-case basis.

We always welcome talented, responsible and enthusiastic undergraduates who are interested in research at the intersection of data science and health/education. Undergraduate students joining our lab typically work with a faculty member, postdoc or graduate student on a project that leads to a manuscript. In some cases, undergraduates have been lead authors on a manuscript or book chapter. Many of our undergraduate students do this research as part of their Undergraduate (Honors) Thesis in their department, or as part of their participation in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program.
